Farmers' rights, insomnia, cigarettes, scarves and deliciousness.

Last night I had the best experience that I've had in a lecture in a long time.  The last time this happened was probably when I was learning about the Merovingians.  We had a guest speaker in our classroom whom is also a Latino-studies teacher.  He was an assistant to Cesar Chavez in the 70s and 80s and also holds a law degree from Harvard.

Some of you might think this is not a big deal, but to me it is.  I learned a lot more about why farmers were fighting for their rights and why union is an important thing.  I also learned that some governmental figures really are just mean.  I can't wait to finalize my project next quarter, I feel like I have learned a lot from this class.  Also, I don't have Mr. Puppet Theatre telling me that my school work is sub-par.

It's currently 4:25am and I can't sleep.  This insomnia has been going on for a while.  I go today to see the doctor about helping me out with the non-sleepiness.  It does not make me a productive or happy person if I can't get a decent night's sleep.

I'm on my third attempt at quitting smoking.  I think the problem is that I feel forced into quitting, but I don't really want to.  I'm well aware of the risks and I am actually terrified it's going to kill me but I still have that teenage subconscious "It won't happen to me."  I know it's ridiculous and it can happen to anyone in many forms, but I have to figure out a way to want to stop.

In other news, I've finished the scarf I started.  My camera is currently out of batteries and I have new batteries in one of my project bags, so pictures will show up at some point.  Also, I have to bake at some point this week and share the deliciousness that comes from my kitchen.

Negligence and the blog

I know I've slacked.  It's been a little while since I've been able to collect my thoughts long enough to put another post up on this blog.  As I was opening the blog to type, I hear pitter patter.  It's not Ava because I can hear her babbling, "daddy daddy daaaaaaaaddddyyyy" in the bedroom.

This pitter patter is of the feline type.  I hear it, fast and loud, into the bathroom, into the litterbox.  A pause, messing with the litter and then the pitter patter returns, faster, louder and then the cat jumps up on the chair next to me and meows low, ears back.

Let me tell you that this cat (I have two) in particular tears up the bathroom.  Your eyes start tearing the minute you set foot in the hallway.

In other news, I don't know if this happens to anyone else, but we have the crappy standard refrigerator that comes with rentals.  Small and plain.  I bought groceries tonight (yep crackhead hours) and I couldn't fit the pizzas I bought, so here it is, 5am and I just finished cooking them.  Miss Ava woke up at 2:30am and has decided that staying up is a great idea.

I have school tonight.....it's going to be a long day.
